Medicine Major
The Pre-Medicine program at Myrtle Beach Stem Academy provides students with a rigorous and comprehensive foundation in the sciences, preparing them for future careers in medicine and healthcare. Students engage in advanced coursework in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics, while developing critical thinking, research, and problem-solving skills essential for medical studies. The program emphasizes hands-on laboratory experience, clinical exposure, and opportunities for mentorship with healthcare professionals, fostering both academic excellence and practical understanding of the medical field.


Freshman
Fall - Health Science 1
Foundation course covering healthcare history, career options, healthcare ethics & law, medical terminology, infection control, safety, first aid, and basic healthcare facility/insurance knowledge.
Spring - Health Science 2
Builds on HS1; introduces basic patient‑care skills, medical math, pharmacology, and may include CPR/First Aid certification.



Sophomore
Fall - Health Science 3 – Human Structure and Function (aligned with anatomy/physiology class)
studies human body systems, anatomy & physiology, how body systems relate to disease, preparing for more advanced healthcare education.
Spring - Intro to medical terminology, emergency medical services (EMS), sports medicine
Teaches basic emergency response, first aid, CPR/AED certification, anatomy/physiology related to emergency care — useful for students interested in emergency medicine, EMT, paramedic, or broader health‑care careers. For students interested in musculoskeletal health, physical therapy, athletic training or rehabilitation. Covers injury prevention, anatomy, treatment, and rehabilitative practices. Provides exposure to biomedical concepts, disease mechanisms, lab skills and scientific reasoning relevant for future medical or research studies.

Fall/Spring - Medical Interventions / Biomedical Innovation
Advanced biomedical‑science electives that prepare students for modern health‑care challenges, research, and understanding of medical technologies



Senior
Fall/Spring - Health‑Science Clinical / Work‑Based Learning Courses
Clinical study tracks, internships on care assistant work, nursing assistant prep, or other allied‑health certifications. These provide real‑world exposure to patient care, health‑care environments, and practical skills
